Theme Description (Flavor)
In a land where certainty is fleeting, the forces of evil manipulate trust itself. Normally confirmed allies are no longer safe, as recruitment and deception turn the righteous into unwitting pawns of darkness. The Summoner, Fang Gu, and Wizard twist the fate of even the most trusted, while the Heretic inverts victory itself, making every decision a perilous gamble. With no drunk or poison, the truth is laid bare—until it isn’t. The town must act swiftly, for in Turncoats, the greatest lie is believing anyone is beyond corruption.
Mechanical Goals of Script
Taking the concept of “hard confirms” to it’s absolute max and then flipping it on it’s head by giving Evil a significant number of ways to “recruit” those hard confirmed characters. Players you were 100% certain of yesterday may be the essential kill of tomorrow.
Key Characters
General & High Priestess– Thermometer of game status as players begin to be converted
Lycanthrope/Village Idiot – Detecting alignment changes
Heretic – Even when recruiting the strongest possible characters & players, the games win condition itself could flip.
Summoner – Primary hard confirm recruiting tool
Wizard – Possible identity hiding or recruiting tool, game depending.
Organ Grinder – Arguably the characters best possible showing with current
available characters. Hiding the vote after day 3 when suspicion is at it’s highest.
Boffin – “Hard confirmable” demon with Townsfolk ability
